Yoga is an excellent form of exercise, since it not only works for the physical aspects of the body but also the mental aspects. Yoga along with focus and relaxation to the mind brings about flexibility in the muscles.

Yoga consists of various yoga exercises such as-

Warming up and cooling down exercises:

The first few yoga exercises such as the Surya namaskar or the salutations to the sun God is associated with warming the body and preparing it for further workouts. By doing warm –up yoga exercises you are in turn preparing the muscles, cardiovascular system and the joints for a workout. It is always beneficial to prepare the body, than rushing into a workout which could result in injuries.

With warming up before exercise, it is also suited to cool down after yoga exercises. Cooling down exercises would help the body recover and restore itself.

Yoga poses and positions-

Yoga comprises of numerous poses and positions as a part of the yoga workout. Yoga includes sitting poses, standing poses and lying on a yoga mat while facing the ceiling.

Yoga also consists of counter poses, twists, balancing poses, forward bends, backward bends and inversions.

Yoga poses work on different parts of the body. Yoga works on all the parts of the body such as legs, back, the abdominal areas and this helps to strengthen the spine. With proper yoga exercises the muscles are shown to get more agile and supple.

Yoga breathing exercises-

Breathing is an important part of performing yoga exercises. One is made to learn techniques to inhale and exhale in a proper and suitable manner. Proper breathing aids to remove various toxins and also improves blood circulation all around the body.
