Yoga has changed the lives of many people. It has led to numerous benefits and has shown to improve ones overall health. Pregnant women are known to get benefits from yoga as it increases stamina, gives relief from nausea and back pain. Pregnancy yoga help women stay in good shape and also reduce pain during labor.
During pregnancy-
During pregnancy a woman goes through tremendous mental and physical changes. A woman during pregnancy has to switch to a much gentler lifestyle, since the movements have to become restricted. Sometimes women while pregnant tend to feel repressed and inactive. During pregnancy it is always better to stay active with walking and doing various other forms of non-competitive exercises.

- Yoga aids to stabilize the weight and helps one prepare for labor. Yoga decreases swelling in the lower parts of the body, reduces back pain and misalignments which are caused due to weight fluctuations.
- Squats which are a part of yoga postures are useful to make the body prepared for natural delivery. The hormones which lead to the joints which are present in the body become loose, yoga aids to strengthen the same joints while improving flexibility.
- When you learn yoga from a good teacher, you would also learn better ways of standing, moving and sitting during pregnancy.
Some points to keep in mind during pregnancy yoga are-
- It is vital to remember while practicing yoga, not to over do the postures and avoid over –stretching.
- Avoid lying on the back or on the stomach areas as this could cause harm to the baby.
- Do not try inversion postures, back bends and deep forwards while pregnant as this could bring harm to the abdominal area. While practicing yoga, be peaceful and relaxed.
- When performing yoga poses, it would be beneficial to continuously breathe. Yoga breathing exercises relieves tension, helps in the circulation of blood and makes sure that the blood which rich in oxygen reaches the baby.
- You must at all times listen to your limitations. Not all bodies are created equal and not all yogic postures would be suitable for all.
Yoga helps to improve digestion, sleep, lowers hypertension, increases flexibility, and strengthens the joints and the muscles. Yoga aids to eliminate impurities from the body during sweat and breathing. It also aids to remove impurities from the kidneys, liver and the digestive system.
Practicing yoga on a regular basis brings about good health for the baby and the mother
