Yeast Infection Infants

Yeast infection in infants develops in the dampness of the skin which multiplies the strength of Candida to grow manifold on the soft surface of the skin of infants.   • If the bottle used for pouring milk inside the mouth of the infant is not washed in boiling water, the development of Candida increases.

Thrush: This is the common form of yeast infection which usually pervades in all children at some point of their infancy. The condition is characterized with the formation of white patches on the tongue and soreness in the mouth. Cracked lips are a common symptom. If effective and mild cure is not taken, the mouth area may start bleeding with the advancement of the inflammation.

Treatment of infant yeast infection:

  • Yogurt: Unsweetened yogurt is a mild and effective medication for the removal of yeast infections. On timely basis, drops of yogurt should be carefully pasted inside the mouth of the infant. Yogurt can be applied on the diaper area as yogurt gives cooling sensation to the affected region.
  • Garlic: A small quantity of garlic paste can be applied on the afflicted area. The quantity should be very less as garlic gives burning sensations
  • Vinegar: Drops of diluted apple cider vinegar can be applied on the yeast affected region in an infant. Vinegar should not be used for mouth infection.
  • Mycostatin: This medicine should be well mixed with milk or yogurt for the consumption of the infant. The medicine can be mixed in water and poured in the mouth of the child in drops.
  • Yeastrol: This homeopathic spray can be applied for yeast infections of other parts of the body except vagina and mouth.

If the development of yeast infection is causing burning sensations to the child, a doctor should be immediately consulted.
