Many researchers have been made on pregnancy after breast cancer, but there are hardly any that provide satisfactory answer to it. Most studies have said that there are not so many complications involved, but still it has been recommend waiting for at least 2-3 years before the conception. The intense hormones of pregnancy and lactation can have a detrimental effect on the tissues of the breast, affecting a woman’s health.
Breast cancer begins due to uncontrolled cell growth in the breast tissue. It is more common in women. The risk of getting such problem increases with age. Most of the women get it at the age of thirties or forties. It therefore affects women during their age of child-bearing. However, now doctors have said that it is safe for a woman to get pregnant after finishing their treatment. Try not to attempt to get pregnant while undergoing treatment as it increases the chances of the mother getting this disease again.

- Most of the doctors advise women who have completed breast cancer treatment successfully to wait two years before getting pregnant. There is a link between increased estrogen levels while pregnant, and the growth of breast cancer cells.
- There have been many considerations that receiving a cancer treatment or recovering from breast cancer before getting pregnant can have many adverse effects on a baby; chemotherapy can damage and have a negative effect on the ovaries.
- Effects of pregnancy after breast cancer can be many. The treatment can result in damage of internal organs, and due to the amount of time required to complete breast cancer treatment, a woman will have less chances to conceive once she gets breast cancer treatment.
Precautions for Pregnancy after Breast Cancer
· To lessen the further risk of developing breast cancer again, women should avoid drinking alcohol.
· A good body weight must be maintained consistently over the lifetime. It is necessary for postmenopausal women who have more risk of breast cancer if they are overweight.
· A good balanced diet must be made that includes fruits and vegetables and regular exercise program should be followed that can lower the risk of breast cancer, especially in postmenopausal women.
The pregnancy stress can lead to serious health problems for a woman who is pregnant after breast cancer treatment. There is also a high risk of damaging the heart or lungs. A survivor of breast cancer must consult with an obstetrician who specializes in high-risk pregnancies before trying to conceive.
