Mouth yeast infection is the inflammation of the oral cavity inclusive of the outer portion of the mouth due to the activity of multiplied Candida fungus which is in normal condition suppressed on the skin of the human body. Mouth yeast infection affects the tongue, the corners of the lips and palate of the mouth causing the formation of patches on the outer surface. The infection is pain and burn sensitive. The formation of the infection takes different shapes and patterns:

Thrush: This is a common phenomenon in infants and children. This is a commonly found disease which is not painful but the condition aggravates into burning and bleeding if the treatment is not incorporated at the right time. The signs of thrush are:

  • Formation of white coating on the inner line of the mouth, this is a permanent coat which is sticky and hampers the mouth movement of the young child.
  • If thrush is wiped off brutally then the area left starts bleeding and the development of ulcers may take place.

Mouth yeast infection in adults:

  • Erythematous: In this type of inflammation, peeling patches of red color are formed on the palate of the tongue. These patches are not diagnosed easily as initially they are not painful but during the period of high intensity, the toxins from the yeast may pass with the food to the gastrointestinal track which causes stomach ache and digestive diseases.
  • Hyperplastic or chronic yeast infection: This is the formation of an extra tissue layer on the surface of the palate, tongue or the corners of the mouth. This layer which is usually discolored is not easily wiped off; if forcefully it is done then the chances of bleeding and excruciating pain are increased leaving the dark spot on the inner layer of the skin.
  • Angular cheilitis: This disease leads to the formation and development of cracks at the corners and edges of the mouth. This causes the drying of skin along with the release of pus or in many cases blood.

Causes of yeast infection:

  • Consumption of birth control pills increases the chances of yeast infection.
  • Intake of antibiotics increases the attack of Candida infection as these medicines kill the bacteria which control the growth of yeast fungus on the surface of our skin.
  • Tricyclic anti-depressants reduce the immunity of the human body against the growth and multiplication of Candida fungus in our body.

Treatment:

  • Homeopathy: Naturally made sprays and creams can be applied on the affected area to reduce the fatal effects of yeast infection.
  • Garlic: Cloves of garlic contain antifungal properties which fights back the attack of a yeast infection.
  • Yogurt: Unsweetened yogurt if applied regularly on the infected portion, the irritation and itching of yeast infection is visibly reduced.

It the above treatments are not satisfactory to your infection, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
