Cancer is caused due to the rampant proliferation of cancerous cells, not in opposition with the death of damaged cells. Study at this institute suggest that the production of sister protein, FANCD2 which curbs the formation of cancerous cells in the body, helps the easy functioning of DNA. Smoking damages the DNA due to the nicotine content found in tobacco. Smoking facilitates the death of healthy cells and multiplication of carcinogens in the body. The US center fro Disease Control and Prevention stated that smoking causes 400,000 deaths annually.
