Your skin is that part of your body that enhances your beauty manifolds. It therefore becomes very important to keep the skin fresh and glowing to keep it looking young and attractive. An effective skin care routine includes the basics of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. This is where the role of skin toner becomes important. You must be careful to choose those skin toners that clean your face without damaging the ph level of you skin and revitalize it to give you a fresh and glowing appearance.

Why toning is important?

It is important to understand why toning is important for both men and women. It is a protective step as it keeps pores clean, lets the skin breathe and makes it more receptive to moisturizing products. The need of toning the skin in men is more than women because they have about fifteen percent oilier skin and considerably larger pores. That is why their skin gets dirtier and requires even more thorough deep cleansing and timely toning to look fresh and healthy.

It has been stressed by most skin care experts that you should choose those skin toners and cleansing products that are as chemical-free as possible. Toning helps in closing the pores, tightening the skin and keeping it free of many of the toxins present in the environment. Toners clean away the last traces of oil from the skin and stimulate the blood supply. The correct method of using a toner is to put it on a cotton wool and wipe it on the face in outward and upward strokes. If your skin looks worn off and tired, patting it with a brisk slapping movement will rejuvenate it.

Tips to Tone your Skin

  1. People who have an oily skin should tone with an astringent lotion. This will take off the extra oil from the skin and will open the clogged pores.
  1. For dry skin, you can use potato. It is a very effective skin toner as it is natural and does not dry up the skin as most other toners available in market do.
  1. Vitamin E oil and wheat oil work wonders for dry skin, toning it up and at the same time nourishing it.
  1. For sensitive skin, you can use strawberries. Mash them up and apply it for 5 minutes after which you can wash it off.
  1. Remember to use only those toners that are alcohol-free because alcohol dries up the skin.
  1. Other good natural toners are tomato juice, rose water and cucumber. All these are very refreshing skin toners.

As your skin ages, it loses its elasticity making you appear older and dull. Toning revitalizes the face by reducing pore size and helps in avoiding the problem of ingrown hairs. Not only this, a good skin toner prevents wrinkles as well. If you include toning in your daily skin care regime, than you can be assured to have a glowing and a youthful that will not only make you look younger but also beautiful.
