Here is the information regarding the different types of benign growths on skin.

- Seborrheic keratoses are the most common benign tumor of the skin. They are scaly, brown and often greasy plaques varying in size and thickness.
- This can occur in any surface except the soles, palms, and mucosa

- These benign lesions don’t need any therapy unless plaques are irritated or inflamed.
- This can be treated using Cryotherapy i.e. liquid nitrogen
Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra
- Dermatosis papulosa nigra is hyperpigmented, hyperkeratotic plaques forming condition.
- It is commonly found on the face and neck, particularly in darkly pigmented persons.

- Treatment for this includes curettage, Cryotherapy, or laser therapy.
Ephilides (Freckles)

- Ephilides represent increased melanin level in the skin. It becomes darker in summer and lightens in winter.
- Ephilides are harmless and benign and its treatment is not necessary
- Chemical peels, topical bleaching creams, or Cryotherapy can help to lighten Ephilides.
Lentigines (Liver Spots)
- Lentigines are known to be hyperpigmented patches that resemble nevi (moles).
- These occur on the sun-exposed skin i.e. face, neck, forearms, upper trunk, and hands.
- Lentigines are benign, which can transform into superficial melanoma
- Cosmetic treatment can be helped with the help of cosmetic products. Along with this Cryotherapy, laser therapy, chemical peels, and bleaching creams can be used.
Nevus (Mole)
- Nevi are also known to be common benign growths, probably resulting from altered melanocytes.
- Patient with atypical moles often have a family history of melanoma. Such persons can suffer from melanoma.
- It needs regular dermatologic analysis and self examinations to avoid further complications.
