Causes of blood in semen

Blood in semen may be caused due to a many conditions that affect the male genitourinary system. If the blood in semen is the result of inflammation of the seminal vesicles, it may clear off on its own. But if this does not happen you may require through investigation and undergo more tests.

 Bloody semen is also seen when there is some problem in areas like bladder, urethra, testicls, seminal vessels, epididymis or the prostate glands. Blood in semen is commonly seen in case of prostrate gland biopsy. Vasectomy may also lead to blood in semen for about one week after the procedure. Malignant conditions of the male genital system, bladder, testes causes blood in semen.
