 From the last 5 years, researchers around the world are in search of various birth control methods for men. It had a great deal of success in case of male contraceptive pills, patches, implants and creams. It would be possible in the coming future to take an MHC in the form of a daily pill for men which will be soon available in market as a male birth control option. Along with this, the injectable or an implant will also be approved for men. Let us focus on the vastly available methods to control birth.

Birth Control Methods for Men

Birth control is common and important for women and men. It is known that women have more options choosing a birth control method. Men have fewer options which are listed as below:

·         Abstinence

·         Condoms

·         Outer course

·         Vasectomy

·         Withdrawal

 

It is possible to prevent pregnancy by men by actively practicing in fertility awareness based methods with their partners. It can also be possible to use the birth control method by both the partners i.e. men and women. This can give rise to minimized chances of pregnancy. If a woman is on the pill and the man is using a condom, it will definitely lower the chance of pregnancy than using just one method. Along with this, it is known that condoms reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.

 

Contraception Method of Birth Control

 

Contraception contains barrier methods like condoms, diaphragm, or injectable contraceptives, and hormonal contraception which are  known as oral contraception.

 

This method is having continuous research process, so as to find the exact option for men.

 

Sterilization of Men

Sterilization method in men is known as vasectomy. It is considered as a permanent procedure for birth control. The rate of its success depends on the type of sterilization method used as well as the patient's age.

 

Vasectomy

·         Vasectomy is known to be a minor surgical procedure for male sterilization as well as birth control.

·         During this procedure, the vasa deferentia of a man is severed and then sealed in a manner, so as to prevent sperm from entering into the seminal stream and ejaculate.

·         Vasectomy is totally different from castration, in which there is a surgical removal of the testicles.

 

Behavioral Methods of Men for Birth Control

Behavioral methods are also important, so as to undergo birth control without any investment. It involves regulating the timing of intercourse, so as to prevent the introduction of sperm into the reproductive tract of the woman.

 

Fertility Awareness

·         It is also possible to understand fertility signs of a woman, along with infertile phases of her cycle.

·         One can make a chart with the assistance of fertility monitors available and avoid intercourse at this phase of cycle, so as to prevent pregnancy.

·         Increase in female body temperature is the main sign of fertile period which is included in natural family planning (NFP) method.

 

Coitus Interruptus Method

It is also known as the withdrawal or pull-out method. In this method, men can end sexual intercourse by pulling out before ejaculation.

 Avoiding Semen near Vagina

It is also known as non-penetrative sex which can be used by men to avoid pregnancy.

 

Along with these, we can conclude that the research will definitely bring forward more options for birth control methods for men in the coming future.
