Thyroid cancer mostly attacks women in their middle ages. In many cases men and young adults are also often found affected by this disease.  Another name for thyroid cancer is thyroid carcinoma. Cancer starts developing in the thyroid gland when the abnormal division of cells takes place. In case it gets malignant, the cells inside become abnormal and move to the surrounding areas of the body and spread as an infection, everywhere. A large amount of infected cells are produced inside the gland which increases the severity of the disease.

Four forms of thyroid cancer have be named as yet though some discoveries are still in progress for detecting other forms of cancer.

  • Papillary cancer:  is the most commonly affecting disease but can be treated if the detection process is implemented on time.
  • Follicular cancer: This is not so common and its treatment also gets difficult depending upon the delay in the diagnoses.
  • Medullary cancer: It is detected only in a very few cases. In this the cells named parafollicular cells creates problems when the produce other infectious hormones called calcitonin.
  • Anaplastic cancer: This form of cancer is not detected very often. In this the cancer cells spreads to the other tissues through the lymphatic system.

Common symptoms of thyroid cancer are mostly related to neck and throat. It creates difficulty in swallowing food easily. The throat gets infected arising problems in speaking and harshness of voice. The neck and the thyroid gland suffer through severe pain.

The most common cause behind thyroid cancer is the ionized radiations. When a person has to undergo this process there is a huge risk of getting cancerous through cells or tissues. This is most common among children as this therapy is used for treating head and neck diseases in them mostly like tonsils and swelling in the lymph nodes.

Radioactive therapy or natural treatments can treat the problem from its root cause. But before using any supplement or even before planning of undertaking a surgery, consult your doctor otherwise it might get irreversible side effects that cannot be treated during the life time even.
