Sleep apnea is also known as obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Sleep apnea is defined as cessation of breath. ·         If one is using a mouthpiece, tell the doctor in case you are experiencing discomfort or pain. One may need to visit the doctor periodically, so as to adjust the mouthpiece to fit better.

 

Breathing Devices

·         CPAP is the long form of continuous positive airway pressure. It is the most popular treatment for sleep apnea in adults.

·         CPAP machine also uses a mask that fits around the mouth and nose. This machine gently blows air into throat.

·         The air further goes through the wall of the airways and the air pressure is adjusted, so that it can easily stop the airways from narrowing or blocking during sleep.

·         Treating of sleep apnea may help to stop snoring of the patient. Keep in mind that sleep apnea will come back if one stopped using CPAP.

·         Normally, a technician will come home bringing the CPAP equipment you ordered. The technician will adjust the machine according to the prescription of your doctor, so that it gives you the best results.

·         In some cases, this machine causes side effects. This includes a dry or stuffy nose, irritated skin, dry mouth, or headaches.

·         If in case the CPAP is not adjusted properly, it can cause stomach bloating and discomfort.
