1.      Try and be receptive before the massage session. Avoid eating just prior to the massage session.

2.      It would be beneficial to arrive well in time for the massage session. If you arrive in a hurried frame of mind, it would take much longer to unwind.

3.      Discuss with the therapist in advance with the kind of clothing you would be comfortable in. Wear the clothing you would be at ease in.

4.      Prior to the massage session, make sure to give proper and valid health information to the Therapeutic massage therapist.

5.      If while during the massage, you feel extra pressure or less pressure or any other issues in regard to room temperature, speed of movement music and lighting it would be advisable to let your massage therapist know.

6.      You must remember that breathing helps to smooth the progress of relaxation. People on many occasions have known to stop or control their breathing pattern when a sensitive area is massaged or when they are apprehensive. You must continue to breathe like normal throughout the session.

7.      Try not to stiffen up during the massage. If you feel stiff inform your therapist as soon as possible so that he can loosen up that area.

8.      If you feel that your views or thought process are continuously racing or in motion, you can remain calm by focussing your mind on the hands of the therapist and the sensation of touch.

9.      During the session if you feel dizzy do not get off the massage table in a hurried manner.

10.  Avoid drinking water before the session. It is preferable to have extra water after the massage session.

11.  You must keep in mind that if anything inappropriate takes place during the massage, you have the right to stop the session.
