Thai massage is known to be one of the ancient and effective massage techniques all over the world. Thai massage has been well accepted all over the world. The teachings in regard to this massage have been handed down from years.

Thai massage is completely different from other massage forms. For Thai massage the therapist uses no oil and the only main requirement is a mattress with the client being clothed throughout the massage sitting.

The key elements which are applied for Thai massage are yoga, shiatsu, and acupressure. This massage form is kind of a therapy where pressure is applied by using the feet, knees, elbows, thumbs and palm. The techniques which are put to use are: soft pressure, walking on the clients back, and pulling fingers and toes.

Before the client sits for the massage session, physical conditions along with level of tolerance are discussed. With the aid of Thai massage blockages of the body are cleared with pressure applied to the main points in the body. Energy is able to move freely throughout the body.

The four techniques which are incorporated in Thai massage are:

  1. The main focus is energy stimulation. Pressure along the various energy channels is used in both directions.
  2. For Thai therapy, reflexology is used, where pressure is applied to the reflexes on the hands and the feet. It is believed with proper amount of pressure on the hand and the feet the entire body can get cured. Reflexology removes toxins, relieves stress and improves blood circulation. Reflexology also cures chronic sinus problems, migraines, acid reflux, allergies, fatigue, insomnia and arthritis.
  3. Blood stopping is the third technique which is incorporated in Thai massage. When major source of circulation is halted for a minute or so the pressure thereafter is increased, this makes the heart slow down contractions which brings down the blood pressure levels. This technique brings about relaxation and revitalization.
  4. Passive stretching exercise is the fourth technique which is incorporated in Thai massage. Here the therapist increases the range of motion which thereafter increases the blood flow.
