Besides the heart disease and cancer, heart stroke is the third leading cause of deaths worldwide. Almost ¼ Th of the stroke victims die immediately after the stroke or its complications. Stroke is a form of cerebrovascular disease; it affects the vessels, which supply blood to the brain. Stroke is a medical emergency, which arises when the flow of blood to your brain gets blocked or stops. This is also referred as a brain attack.

 Types of Heart Stroke

Mainly, stroke can be divided into two type’s i.e. ischemic heart stroke and hemorrhagic heart stroke.

Ischemic Stroke  :-

This is the most common type of stroke accounts for about 80% people. The brain depends on its arteries to supply fresh blood from the heart and lungs. The blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain, and takes away the carbon dioxide and cellular waste. If an artery gets blocked the brain cells cannot receive enough of oxygen. If they cannot make the required amount of energy, the brain will eventually lead to stop working which is called ischemic stroke. Ischemic stroke can be divided into two types.

  • Thrombotic Stroke

If the clotting of blood begins from the arteries of the brain, it is a thrombic stroke. This type of stroke is responsible for about 50% of all the strokes. The most common problem of the arteries is narrowing off in the neck or head.

Thrombotic stroke are also referred as large artery strokes. This stroke is caused due to slow thickening and hardening of the arteries walls because of which arteries are injured. Such injuries make the immune system to release the white blood cells resulting in a stroke. If the blood clot then blocks the artery, the narrowed artery shuts off the oxygen to the part of brain, and you have a thrombotic stroke

  • Embolic Stroke

If the blood clotted in the other parts of the body arteries enters into the brain, you have an embolic stroke.

Hemorrhagic Stroke :-

Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when the blood vessel bursts inside the brain, which results in the increase of the fluid pressure on the brain and harms the brain by pressing it against the skull. This stroke can be divided into two types -

  • Intracerebral Hemorrhage

Intracerebral hemorrhage is the internal bleeding of the brain, which can happen in any part of the brain. Blood may get accumulated in the brain tissue itself or may be in the space between the brain and the membranes covering it. People may not notice the problem occurring inside the brain i.e. bleeding and the stroke.

  • Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Hemorrhagic stroke, which leads to bleeding into the fluid filled spaces located deep in the brain, are called as subarachnoid hemorrhage. It can occur in any age but it is more common in people above the age of 40 to 65 yrs. This stroke causes a paralysis, unconsciousness and bleeding into the cerebellum. It produces a typical signs of coordination with headache and stiffness of the neck.
