In reality, your heart is just a muscle. Human heart is a very complicated and a complex organ. It is located little left to the middle of your chest and it is the size of your fist. There are several muscles all over your body .i.e. arms, legs, and back. However, the heart muscle is something special because of the function, which it performs. The heart circulates blood around all your body organs. The blood provides your body system with the oxygen and the nutrient, which it needs. In addition, it carries away all the waste.

Your heart works like a pump. The right side of your heart receives blood from the body and pumps it again to the lungs. Whereas the left side of the heart does the exact opposite, i.e. it receives blood from the lungs and pumps it to the body system.

Before each of the heart beat, your heart fills with a blood then its muscle contracts to squirt the blood along and when the heart contracts , it squeezes. Your heart does this work for you all the day, all night, all the time from the moment of your birth till the last breath of your life!

Heart is composed of four chambers, i.e. many arteries and many veins. The four chambers of the heart are known as atrium and ventricles. The two upper chambers of the heart are called atriums and the bottom chambers are called as ventricles. Therefore, it is very important to keep your heart healthy in order to have a long life span.
