 Diabetes is a disease, which occurs when a person’s body is not able to make enough amount of insulin required by the body. In some cases, body is not able to use insulin properly. When you are suffering from diabetes, sugar builds up in your blood instead of developing in cells. This excessive sugar in the blood results in serious health and heart problems, which also leads to serious nerves and kidney damage.

Link between Diabetes and Heart problem

Is there any link between diabetes and heart problem?

Unfortunately, the answer is YES! People suffering from diabetes have a higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Heart problems and diabetes goes hand in hand. One of the major causes of diabetes is the contraction of heart and vascular heart diseases.

Causes of Heart Disease in Person with Diabetes

  1. Person suffering from diabetes often experience the change in blood vessels, which lead to cardiovascular disease.
  2. In a person with diabetes, the linings of the blood vessels may become thicker, which makes it more difficult for the blood to flow through the vessels. This impairs the blood flow and leads to heart problems or stroke.
  3. Due to diabetes, blood vessel can also damage other body parts like eye, kidney, and can also cause poor circulation of blood in legs and feets.                      

   Other Major Risk Factor of Heart Problems:-

Other risk factor which increases the risk of heart problems are.

  1. High blood pressure
  2. High blood fats
  3. Smoking
  4. Lack of exercise
  5. Obesity
  6. Genetic factors

Prevention of the Risk Factors which causes Heart Problem due to Diabetes:-

Some tips that will help you to decrease the risk factors that leads to heart problems due to diabetes.

  1. Practice a healthy heart diet.
  2. Check your blood pressure and blood fats regularly
  3. Do exercise regularly
  4. Follow a low fat diet
  5. Quit smoking and stop the use of tobacco products
  6. Limit the drinking of alcohol
  7. Consider aspirin therapy
  8. Maintain a healthy blood sugar level
  9. Take your medicines regularly 

Symptoms of Heart Disease:- 

Following are the symptoms of heart disease, which confirms the occurrence of heart diseases to a person, although it may differ from person to person. It includes.

1.    Shortness of breath

2.    Irregular heart beat

3.    Swelling in ankles.

4.    Nausea

5.    Sweating

6.    Light headedness

7.    Discomfort in arms, jaws, neck stomach or back

8.    Pain in chest 

Types of Heart Problems/Heart Disease and Blood Vessels disease, which occurrs in Diabetes Patient:-

The two major types of heart and blood vessel disease, (cardiovascular heart disease) common in people with diabetes are coronary heart disease and cerebral vascular disease. Diabetes patient are at a high risk of heart failure. Narrowing or blockage of blood vessels in legs is known as a peripheral arterial disease, which also occurs in people with diabetes.

Remember, diabetes and heart disease or heart problem are related to each other. In addition, diabetes also leads to excess weight and high blood pressure.  Healthy Diet and regular exercise is one of the best options, which one can follow to overcome the heart diseases. It is also a good way to control your level of sugar in blood. If these things do not come out with positive effects, one can take medicines to control the blood sugar levels (diabetes), cholesterol level and to control the blood pressure level. At last, one must have a confidence, which will help a lot to reduce these diseases. In some cases, self-effort plays a vital role.
