Symptoms of Inner Ear Problems

 The inner ear plays an important role in the identification, and pitch of the sound. It helps to hear the sound. The inner ear involves three semicircular canals and vestibule as balancing part. It consists of fluid passages within the ear, which are responsible for both hearing and balance. The inner ear problem varies from person to person. Symptoms of inner ear problem are usually typified by dizziness, nausea, or ringing sounds in the ear.

Inner ear is the important part of the ear. Hearing process can be never complete without the presence of the inner ear. It is always better to know the problems that affect the inner ear.

The primary problems affecting the inner ear are:

·         Labyrinthitis

·         Acoustic neuroma

·         Vestibular Neuritis

Some other inner ear problems are autoimmune inner ear disease, Meniere’s disease, acoustic neuroma ototoxicity, silent seizures, perilymph fistula, migraine associated vertico, and allergies. 

Symptoms of Inner Ear Problems

  1. Tinnitus: It is the medical term given to ears ringing. It can be a symptom of ear or sinus infection, noise damage in the inner ear or fluid build-up.
  2. Pressure: A feeling of ear pressure canal is a common symptom. It is due to the inflammation resulting from infection, or a buildup of excess fluid in the vestibules.
  3. The Basic Inner Ear Symptoms Vary in Severity from Person to Person

·         Ringing in the ear

·         Tidiness and difficulty to balance

·         Blurred vision with dizziness

·         Anxiety

·         Excess tiredness

·         Neck pain, headache, stiffness in the leg

·         Slurred speech

·         Heat and cold intolerance

·         Motion sickness

·         Cracking or clicking sensation in the ear

·         Confusion

·         Forgetfulness

·         Fatigue

·         Depression

·         Flu-like symptoms

 

Other symptoms of Inner Ear Problems

There may be some emotional symptoms which you will notice like anxiety and panic attacks. You may feel depressed, frustrated and tired. You may lose interest in routine activities. Other complaints include nausea, motion sickness, confusion, forgetfulness, heat and cold intolerance, slurred speech, vivid dreams, and flu like symptoms, fatigue, clumsiness and tremors.

Treatment of Inner Ear Problems

Inner ear infection treatment includes lot of anti-inflammatory foods like ginger, garlic, turmeric, cayenne, fish oils and raw pineapple in your diet. These foods put down the inflammation of the ear membranes and relieve stress pressure of the ear. Inner ear infection lasts for a week, but should be treated soon, as it might occur again.

Inner ear problems can be diagnosed on the basis of hearing tests like ECOG, Electronystagmography (ENG), Posturography or Platform test, imaging tests such as X-ray, CT scan and MRI scan or the Rotary Chair test. For all inner ear problems, it is recommended to have less salt, caffeine-free diet. More sugar in the diet triggers dizziness.
