Colon is the most important part of the digestive system. It is also known as the large intestine. It is a storage tube for solid wastes. It is structured as a long hollow tube at the end of the digestive tract where your body makes and stores waste.
There are many disorders that affect the colon's ability to work properly. Some of these include:
1. Colon cancer: It is also called colorectal or rectal cancer. It is the cancer of the colon or rectum which can be caused easily but is very often curable. It is more common in people over the age of 50. Heredity and a diet rich in fat are basic causes of this disease.
Symptoms include blood in the stool, narrower stools, a change in bowel habits and general stomach discomfort. Treatments that can cure are surgery, chemotherapy, radiation or a combination.

Spastic colon is also known as irritable bowel. It is a condition in which the colon muscle powerfully contracts and loses its normal coordination. The built up pressure causes constipation, gas, bloating, and abdominal cramps.
Avoiding caffeine and taking a stable diet are the best treatment along with which you should minimize stress and stop the intake of antispasm drugs.
3. Functional disorders
These are the ones in which the bowel stops working properly but still looks normal. The colon and rectum are badly affected by more severe problems. Functional disorders are a direct result of bad diet and bowel habits.
4. Constipation
It is a very common gastrointestinal problem. It occurs when a person cannot move their bowels and results in bloating, sluggishness and an uncomfortable feeling.
It is usually caused by:
- inadequate fiber rich diet
- when you do not intake good amount of water.
- Proper evacuation of waste doesn’t takes place.

Natural laxatives are often recommended by most health advisors but some of the above mentioned diseases require surgery or sustained medical treatment. But for easy day to day solution herbal cures can be utilised as they are harmless and give 100% results.
