Lower back pain has been defined by some doctors as the most agonizing condition a person might probably experience in his/her life. This statement rings loud and true for millions of people with stern lumbar back pain.
History of Lower Back Pain
The occurrence of lumbar back pain is fairly a current event. There is little proof of huge numbers of patients throughout history complaining of treatment defiant back pain. The frequency of lumbar back pain has simply grown enormously in the last 50 years. Back pain is the most common reason for a person to miss on his/her work. These statistics are scary but true.
Causes of Lower Back Pain
The causes of lower back pain can be disease leaning, structural or mental. The huge majority of patients who look for medical help for lower back pain are diagnosed with some kind of spinal aberration which is considered to be the source of pain. However, in most cases this diagnostic theory is incorrect and baseless and flies in the face of the latest back pain study which suggests that most structural spinal situations are coincidental to any symptoms experienced.
The most frequently diagnosed causes of lower back pain include lumbar degenerative disc disease, herniated discs or a spinal osteophyte complex infringing on a neuroforaminal space, the spinal canal itself or putting pressure on the face joints. Statistics clearly suggest that these circumstances do cause pain in rare instances, but most are misidentified as the correct sources of pain. Moreover, this is also correct for mild to reasonable cases of spondylolisthesis, lumbar lordosis, scoliosis and many other structural issues in the lower spine. Sadly, several cases of true lumbar structural pain are incorrectly diagnosed when the real location of the spinal aberration is in the upper back or neck. Cervical spinal stenosis can cause pain in the sciatica tissues in the legs and lower back.
Treatment for Lower Back Pain
Treatment for lower back pain is the most lucrative side of the back pain industry. People who suffer from chronic lower back pain comprise the majority of individuals who are relegated to the rarely successful back pain treatment schedule. Medical science has proven to be almost ineffective when it comes to successfully resolving most varieties of low back pain.
Severe lower back pain is an epidemic condition which affects more than four out of five adults at some point in their lives. Lower back symptoms are the second most common reason for a person to visit a doctor. Low back pain which does not go away within a year has a better chance of lasting for life than it does of being cured. Treating lower back pain has become one of the hottest and most beneficial specialties in the whole medical community.
Most cases of low back pain are treated conventionally and without surgery. Most often these therapies continue for years or even indefinitely. Thus, it is vital that you take good care of your back to avoid the pain which could get worse and could remain with you for the rest of your life.
