A urinary tract infection is also known as UTI. Urinary tract infections are quite common as many people are known to suffer from the same at some point in time. This infection can be easily treated as it involves one of the simplest viruses which can easily be treated. Urinary tract infection can be treated using healthier and effective remedies.

Symptoms which accompany urinary tract infection if not treated can spread all the way to the kidneys.

Causes of urinary tract infection-

The main cause of urinary tract infection is bacteria. E coli is the main bacterium which is behind this infection. An infection manifests when the bacteria enters the urinary tract and begins to travel and multiply in the bladder. In some cases the body’s own defense system is able to fight the bacteria and flush it out from the body. If the body’s defense system is weak the bacteria gets a hold of the bladders wall and proliferates resulting in an infection in the urinary tract.

Poor hygiene results in the formation of E Coli bacteria, which finds a way into the bowel. When the bacteria over grows, it results in an infection.

Some symptoms of urinary tract infections are-

  • Burning sensation while urinating
  • Passing frequent urine
  • Passing small amount of urine
  • Heightened urge to urinate
  • Bloody urine
  • Cloudy urine
  • Stronger scented urine

Treatment for urinary tract infection-

It would be most suitable to opt for natural remedies for the treatment of urinary tract infections since antibiotics can cause side effects to occur such as diarrhoea and nausea.

Natural remedies for urinary tract infection-

Apiol: Apiol is an antiseptic. This volatile oil keeps the bacteria from clinging to walls of the bladder.

Cranberries: Cranberries can be easily attained in the form of fruits and cranberry tablets. Though one tends to feel slightly uncomfortable with cranberry due to its high fibre content and acidic nature, it creates a hostile environment for the bacteria to multiply. One can drink water with baking soda as a base for treating or neutralizing acidity.

Apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is rich in both potassium and enzymes. This natural remedy also contains other minerals. Apple cider vinegar contains natural antibiotic properties which help in nullifying the bacterium E coli. Since apple cider vinegar is bitter in taste it can be diluted with water and a teaspoon of honey.

Some tips to reduce UTI symptoms are-

  • Drink plenty of water and fluids as it aids in the flushing out toxins
  • Use a hot water bottle over the abdomen to ease out the pain

Urinary tract infection is known to be quite easy to treat when one follows the right remedies in the most appropriate and suitable way.

When treating and finding solutions for urinary tract infections, it would be better to use natural remedies. Natural treatments are much better for the body than strong medicines and antibiotics.
