Stomach Aches and its Treatment

Stomach ache is defined as an uneasiness which is felt in the abdominal area in the body. Stomach ache could be due to various reasons and one of the main factors which leads to stomach ache is due some food eaten which has not agreed with the system.
Stomach or the abdomen area is the anatomical area which is bounded by the lower margin of the ribs, the pelvic bone is situated below and the flanks which are situated on either sides. Stomach ache is often described as a pain which originates from organs within the abdominal cavity, which is the area beneath the skin and muscles.
Some causes of stomach ache-
- Stress has shown to be a significant factor which leads to stomach ache or stomach discomfort.
- Eating food items which are spicy and not fresh in nature can also result in stomach ache.
- Stomach ache is also caused due to eating too much junk food on a regular basis and consuming food items which contain too many preservatives.
Stomach ache can also be caused due to factors such as-
- Ulcers
- Gallstones
- Stress
- Overeating
- Lactose intolerance
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Constipation
- Viral gastroenteritis
- Gastric problem
- Indigestion
- Hernia
- Food poisoning
- Food allergy
- Kidney stones
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
- Urinary tract infection
- Inflammation of the gall bladder
- Muscle strain or trauma
- Pancreatitis
- Parasite infections
- Endometriosis
- Gastro oesophageal reflux disease
Treatment for stomach aches-
Drink plenty of water or fluids: Water and fluids aid in the flushing out of toxins. Water also helps in getting rid of stomach aches by improving bowel movements.
Peppermint and fennel teas: Peppermint and fennel teas aid in soothing out cramping in the stomach region. Fennels works to soothe stomach soreness and peppermint works to treat stomach discomfort.
Elm herbs and chamomile for stomach pain: Teas which are made out of chamomile and elm herbs lend a hand in curing swollen mucous membrane of the lining which is present around the stomach. These herbs also help in warming up and relaxing the circulation system of the body. Herbs which one can try are from: lemon balm, valerian herb, rue and peppermint. Herbs are known to facilitate digestion.
Ginger for stomach ache: Take a small piece of ginger and squeeze the juice from the ginger. Apply the ginger juice on the area which is paining and massage it gently.
Yogurt: Include yogurt in your diet. Yogurt contains a bacterium which helps in curing stomach ache and uneasiness.
You must call your doctor immediately if you have severe or even mild stomach ache. It would be advisable to take medical help after consulting your doctor. Medical help should be taken if stomach ache is sharp and sudden.
You should not to take stomach aches lightly as it can lead to further health complications and disorders. By eating healthy food items such as fresh fruits and vegetables one can prevent stomach aches to a large extent.
