Oxygen therapy is known as the administration of oxygen under medical conditions. This can take place for different cases of chronic and acute patients. Let us focus on what we can know about oxygen therapy.
Important Information about Oxygen Therapy
· We all know that we require oxygen for cell metabolism. So tissue oxygenation is very important for normal functioning of the body.
· There is only 21 % of oxygen available in the room which we breathe to increase quantity of oxygen in the blood.
· When in some cases 100% oxygen is needed, it is medically delivered via a face mask known as oxygen therapy.
· Oxygen can also be administered by hyperbaric oxygen therapy
· From this we can say that oxygen therapy is a form of treatment which is used to treat bacteria, viruses and fungi infection. These are anaerobic in nature and grow in normal low oxygen environments.
· Nowadays, it is also proven that cancer cannot grow in this high oxygen environment. Research exposed that our cells normally denied 60% requirement of oxygen, and it switches to fermentation mechanism and converts into cancerous cells by growing out of control.
About Oxygen Therapy and Its Working Principle
· Research tells that normal cells and cancer cells get energy from blood sugar and normal cells use oxygen to combine with the glucose, where as cancer cells break glucose without oxygen.
· This anaerobic breakdown of glucose forms lactic acid. Some of the lactic acid converts back to glucose.
· As a result, advocates of oxygen therapy say that the lack of oxygen on a cellular level can cause disease. The greater oxygen levels are, the more it is resistant to disease.
Methods of Oxygen Therapy
Oxygen therapy takes place using following two treatment methods:
Ozone Treatment
· This involves forcing oxygen via metal tube. Ozone is forced into the bottle which gets dissolved in the blood.
· The treated blood is then re entered into patients
Hydrogen Peroxide Treatment
· Hydrogen peroxide when enters the body fluid, the catalase enzyme divides it into oxygen and water. When we put this on wounds, we experience the foaming effect which is basically oxygen produced during reaction. Hydrogen peroxide is sometimes directly injected into the blood or taken orally as an oxygen therapy.
Benefits of Oxygen Therapy
There are many advantages involved in oxygen therapy. These are listed as below:
Hypoxemia
It is used to treat hypoxemia patients who lack adequate amount of oxygen. Lack of oxygen results into shutting down of the brain and other organs.
Shortness of Breath
It is also used to treat the patients who suffer from shortness of breath. This is due to lack of oxygen level in blood. Under such situation; oxygen therapy gives benefits to the patient. It is also used in patients with respiratory problem.
Along with this, it is also used to overcome the following disorders of the body:
· Headache and Nausea
· Succours Lung Disease
· Strain on the heart
· Oxygen therapy aids air travel
There are many advantages we can conclude about oxygen therapy. It has many positive effects on body like feeling healthy and fresh.
