Diabetes is a disease of surge in the glucose content in the bloodstream when the production or conversion of glucose molecules is damaged due to the factors ranging from auto immune attack, genetic constitution, obesity, smoking, inheritance from gestational diabetes, virus infections and sedentary lifestyle to age, stress and tension. The intensity and the cause of diabetes are inconsistent with people of different origins and age groups.
People get diabetes because of genetic and hereditary factors: The statistics of American Health Institute prove that the risk factor of inheriting diabetes is 25 to 30% more in people with diabetes history. The running of diabetes in the family is also dependent on diabetes gene. The alteration in diabetes gene can suddenly take place if the DNA is severely affected. If the gene is in repressed form, the person is the carrier of diabetes to next generation and if the gene is in dominant form the person is a sufferer of diabetes.
- Obesity: Studies at American Health Center stated that 60 to 85% of people suffer from diabetes. After the great depression in America, the rate of diabetes suddenly dropped due to the shortage of food and money. In the case of obesity, the cells disable to convert glucose into energy due to the excess layer formed around the cell walls. This blocks the acceptance of glucose carried by insulin hormone. The state of non- conversion of glucose accumulates the produced sugar in blood.
- People get diabetes because of sedentary lifestyle: An inconsistency and irregularity in diet chart along with very low physical activity hampers the development of the body. Physical activity of the body helps in the control of weight and stimulates the absorption of glucose in the body.
- Smoking: Women and men who smoke more than 25 cigarettes in a day tend to develop diabetes. Smoking induces toxins like nicotine, carbon mono oxide and cyanide in bloodstream which reduces the dissipation of glucose in the body which results in hypoglycemia in a sufferer’s body. In some cases it causes hyperglycemia due to the distortion in the supply chain of the body.
- Virus infections: The attack of virus Coxsackie B in the tail of the pancreas causing severe damage to the production cycle of the insulin hormone by beta cells results in diabetes. Some people get diabetes because this virus distorts their insulin production capacity of the body which raises the content of sugar in bloodstream.
- The chances of diabetes increases with age factor: The risk of development of diabetes increases with age as the level of bodily activity decreases with the increasing age.
- Organic disorders: Diabetes can be the by-product of chronic and organic disorders in the body like tuberculosis, cancers and cerebral diseases.
There is no fixed answer to the question why people get diabetes but the prevention and cure is common to all the species of diabetes ranging from exercise and diet control chart incorporation in the daily regime which can be consulted from a health book and intake of mild medication after consulting from a specialized doctor.
