Type -1 diabetes is a form of insulin dependent disease, also known as juvenile diabetes; the disorder is common among children. The American health department reported that every year 13,000 children are diagnosed with type-1 diabetes. This insulin dependent disease is caused due the lack of secretion of insulin hormone by the beta cells found in the tail section of pancreatic gland. The flourishing growth of beta cells is affected by the severe attack of immune system. A bemusing situation for scientist, this action is termed as Auto immune attack. The symptoms of type-1 insulin dependent diabetes are:

  • Excessive urination
  • Increase in the thirst of water
  • Loss of weight
  • Increase in appetite
  • Frequent enervation of body
  • Body pain and itching around genitals due to the attack of yeast infection
  • Depression and reduction in the rate of healing of wounds and injuries
  • This type of diabetes weakens the eyesight.

Cure and prevention methods for juvenile diabetes: Along with regular monitoring of diet chart and exercise, health and herbal alternative books can be consulted. However, effective medication is a primary step which should be given first priority. Some of the best medicated methods available are:

  • Insulin replacement therapy: This is a common method which is followed by providing insulin injections and insulin pumps to the patients. Regular glucose monitor can aid the patients about the rise or fall in the sugar level in the body. If this method is not sought, than extreme techniques are also available.
  • Transplantation of pancreas:  This type of solution is recommended to patients who suffer from extreme case of type-1 diabetes. This method bears fruits when it is followed by the replacement of kidneys. Immunosuppressive drugs are induced in the bodies of patients with replaced kidneys; these drugs are very effective in pancreatic replacement too.
  • Islet cell transplantation: This is the recent method used for major current cases of diabetes. In this method, islet cells are injected in the liver of the patient which aid in the production of insulin hormone inside the liver. This type of operation should be complemented with the introduction of immunosuppressant in the patient’s body.
  • Encapsulation method: This is a new and revolutionary approach in transplanting pancreas encapsulated in an infection resistant coating without the induction of immunosuppressant.
  • Self help guides: Books on diabetes can be consulted which provide extensive knowledge on the quality and quantity of exercise and food intake for diabetes patients.

Although type-1 diabetes is a common disease in children but adults may also suffer from this disease. If symptoms are analyzed at the right time, right diagnosis should be taken under a medically certified doctor.
