The signs of diabetes are the symptoms which are caused in the body of the diabetics due to the increase in the level of glucose in bloodstream which is the result of under production or over production of insulin hormone. The preliminary function of insulin is the facilitation of absorption of glucose into body cells which is converted into energy. The obstruction caused in the process leads to the signs of diabetes, occurrence of which varies from person to person depending on the diet and exercise routine followed by a person.
The signs and symptoms of diabetes are:
- Frequency in the process of urination: The accumulation of glucose in the bloodstream causes urination to be increased due to the forced action of the blood vessels onto the urinary tract for the ejaculation of glucose from the body. The presence of glucose hampers the kidneys which ceases the retention of water in the body in adequate amount. The pressure created from the blood to urinary tract induces the extraction of water along with glucose molecules from the body.
- Increase in the rate of thirst: The breakage of proteins and carbohydrates from the body induces fatigue in the body which can be equated with the consumption of water from outside to retain the strength of the body. The patient of diabetes feels thirsty often beyond the normal capacity of human body to release the glucose molecules off the body.
- Neuropathy: This is a nerve disorder which is caused due to the accumulation of glucose in the bloodstream as this leads to the drying and blocking of the arteries which supply blood to the extremities like legs, toes, nails, fingers and hands. The increased diabetes causes pain in the nerves of the extremities.
- Yeast infection: This is developed when the surface of the sensitive areas of the body are damp and wet with a base of sugar. Yeast infection is a common by-product of diabetes. The infection is triggered due to the sugary sweat and base of skin which facilitates in sugar by causing pain, itching, rash formation and bleeding.
- Sudden loss of weight: The obstruction caused in the conversion of sugar into energy due to the resistance of body cells towards insulin hormone leads to the lowering of stamina and capacity. The breakage of proteins and starch stored in the liver for the energy further decreases the body strength ad weight. The sufferer of diabetes loses his/her breath very easily.
- Depression: This is the result of the inactivity of the body which triggers the hormone in the brain for the relaxation and rest. The lack of exercise and body movement leads to the accumulation of body weight in many cases causing obesity.
- Hunger pangs: Diabetics suffer from hunger pangs more than 5 to6 times in a day. The body requirement for energy is not fulfilled therefore they require food for the retention of some energy.
The signs of diabetes can be controlled and maintained with medication and exercise. Information on the chart of exercise and diet control can be obtained from a self help guide or a health center. If the disease persists, a doctor should be consulted.
