How To Prevent Diabetes

The prevention of the disease of diabetes requires a combination of maintaining exercise and diet control along with the consumption of natural, allopath and homeopath medicines, if needed, for keeping the glucose level in the body low. If the prevention of the disease is not set in at the right time, diabetes causes the impairment of eyes, nerves, heart, brain, lungs, blood and body.

Prevention of diabetes with the aid of diet maintenance: Diabetes is a disease which is caused due to the imbalance created in the production or utilization of insulin hormone which results in the non-conversion of glucose into energy leading to the accumulation of excess glucose in the bloodstream. The requirement of a diabetic per day is:

Herbal remedies for the prevention of diabetes:

  • Butea leaves: Known by the name Butea monosperma, which contains an anti-diabetic property that controls and prevents the rise of glucose level in bloodstream. This is helpful in controlling and maintaining glycosuria which is the presence of large molecules of glucose in the urine.
  • Fenugreek seeds: The botanical name of the seeds is trigonella foenum graecum, which is a leafy vegetable that gradually cleans the oxidants found in the body. This aids in combating the ill effects of diabetes which range from blockage in bloodstream to heart attack.
  • Sweet potato leaves: The bitter leaves of sweet potato, botanically known as Ipomoea batatas are anti-diabetic.

Natural methods of preventing diabetes:

  • Apple: The amount of pectin found in apple is helpful in preventing diabetes in young and middle aged people. This ingredient reduces the requirement of a diabetic body for the production and utilization of insulin.
  • Curd: Yogurt induces the bacteria lactophillus which fights with the infections and minor diseases cropped up in the body due to diabetes. 

Physical activity and prevention of diabetes:

  • Exercise: Exercise increases the metabolism of the body utilizing the excess glucose and fat deposition in the body, increasing the flow of blood to heart and brain and finally controlling the level of diabetes in a patient. According to the American Health Association “Walking for 40 minutes four times a week, is enough to lower insulin resistance, and improve blood sugar level”. The accurate information on the amount of exercise and diet should be drawn from a self guide or a doctor.

The prevention of diabetes can be conducted at home but if the level of glucose is very high in bloodstream, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
