People need braces for several reasons. These reasons could vary from orthodontic work to the severe need for braces and to simple and aesthetic needs of people who just need a prettier smile. Certainly, there are also individuals who want braces, but might not essentially need them. Many of you might think as to why do people need braces, however there are different reasons for each individual.
You need to visit your orthodontist if you think that you could need braces. Depending upon the orthodontic work which needs to be done, if any, your orthodontist would take some x-rays and inspect your mouth and your jaws.
Common Reasons to Get Braces
Straightening the Teeth
There could be a problem with people’s bites and the way they chew and process their food if the teeth are uneven or crooked. An improper bite could lead to larger problems in the jaw and even cause backaches and headaches.
Cosmetic Reasons
Some individuals just use braces to improve the look of their smile even if they don’t actually need them. Several individuals think that only entirely straight teeth are attractive and are willing to undergo several years of orthodontic work in order to have an ideal smile.
Bite Correction
When the upper jaw extends the teeth too far forward, several people have over bites. The bottom teeth sticking out beyond the upper teeth cause under bites in some individuals. As these bites could lead to tension in the jaw, both these bites aren’t good for it and would keep you from biting appropriately. A bone could be damaged with deep under bites and over bites (when the teeth bite into the tissue of the other side of the jaw).
Other Reasons to Get Braces
Why do people need braces have some other reasons as well. Some of these reasons are:
- You simply want to improve chewing your food. Your teeth are unable to bite or chew through your food properly, when they are misaligned and this might lead to an upset stomach.
- As you get older, you can develop breathing problems and the top of your mouth changes. You can keep the breathing problems at bay if your teeth are straight and aligned correctly.
Braces and Dental Care
Taking care of your braces doesn’t need to be intricate. In reality, you could prevent costly dental procedures later by taking basic care of your teeth. When you have braces, your teeth are moved through the gums to new positions. This means that your teeth could feel loose and your mouth could pain as the roots of the teeth move through the gums to their new position.
Ensure that you pay good attention to any teeth which feel especially loose and don’t twist them around yourself or even think of pulling them. Instead, immediately contact your orthodontist for further treatment.
It’s vital when there is a dental problem you must immediately contact the dentist before it starts hurting you. The answer to the question why do people need braces is because braces not only change facial appearance, but also correct the problems with the teeth which in time could cause severe problems.
