· Deceitfulness, which includes lying a lot or conning people to get personal profit
Causes of Antisocial Personality Disorder
The two main causes can be life situation and the way the person has dealt with it and other causes can be genes or inherited tendencies.
1. Inherited Tendencies or Genes
Such problem can arise if one of the family members or parent has had any kind of personality disorder in the past.
2. Environmental Situations
Environment is referred to as the place and area where a person grows up watching different situations. A child may get affected with such disorder if he has had an abusive or harsh relation with his parents or had not so good relations with other people around him.
Diagnosis
To diagnose this problem, it is necessary to characterize the problem. It is necessary to understand the reason behind this problem; whether the problem has occurred because of excess violation or some kind of abusive relationship. Common features of this problem are manipulation and dishonesty. To diagnose this problem, the person must be of 18 years of age and should have had shown some signs of conduct disorder before the age of 14. The disorder can only be diagnosed if the person has being showing the same behavior for a long time. Other tests will include:
· Physical Examination
The test will include measurements of weight, height, and taking into considerations signs like blood pressure, heart rate, listening to the heart and lungs, change in body temperature, and examining the abdomen.
· Laboratory Tests
Lab tests like blood count including CBC, RBC, screening for drugs, diagnosing other diseases, and functioning of thyroid.
Treatment
To treat a person with such disorder can be difficult. The treatment effectiveness is not known yet. However, it can show negative consequences of illegal behavior. Hence, lots of risk is involved. It is always advisable to make a good research on what is antisocial personality disorder and accordingly take action.
