Foods That Boost Eyesight

 Today, weak eyesight has become an ordinary problem, especially for kids and youngsters. Nutritional deficiency is the cause of weak eyesight. If the problem gets severe, it may become the reason for blindness. Wrong habits and also genetic factors cause weakening of eyesight. Deficiency of vitamin A is the main factor for weak eyesight.

Here are some factors that cause weakening of eyesight:

·         Wrong eating habits

·         Excess of alcohol might create this problem, also while causing other problems

·         Reading in dim or excess light

·         Watching TV for long time regularly and also working on computer

·         Some digestive problems

There are some foods that will help to improve your eyesight. One of the most important things to have good eyesight is that you should maintain healthy, balanced diet. It should include fruits, leafy vegetables, fish and meat which will give you correct amount of vitamins and minerals.

Let’s have a look at some foods that will improve your eyesight.

  • Orange and Yellow Colored Fruits: Mango, papaya, orange, sweet lime and pumpkin are the fruits with vitamin A and C. Eating them will sharpen your eyesight and prevent night blindness.
  • Fish: Fish which is rich in oils such as tuna, salmon, mackerel and sardines contain loads of omega 3 fatty acids which are beneficial for your eyesight. They are also the sources of DHA which help treating dry eyes and avoiding muscular degeneration.
  • Green Leafy Vegetables: Spinach has substantial quantities of caroteniods like lutein and zeaxanthin which protect your eyes from degeneration. Other healthy green leafy vegetables are broccoli, lettuce, kale and Brussels sprouts.
  • Blueberries: This food is the best choice when it comes to improving eyesight, especially night vision. So if you have limited eye vision or if you want to improve night eye vision, then you should start eating blueberries.
  • Fruits with Vitamin C: Citrus fruits like lemons, oranges, sweet lime and other vitamin C rich fruits like guava, tomatoes and gooseberries help prevent degenerative eyes disorders like cataracts. Not only that, they also guard you against infections. You can eat them in the form of juices or smoothies or even as a whole fruit. You will see the difference soon.
  • Dark Chocolate: Not only the flavonoids in dark chocolate keep you full of energy, but they also guard the blood vessels in eyes to maintain integrity of lens and cornea. For this, look out for purer dark chocolate forms or at least they should contain 60% cacao extracts as these contain the exact amount of antioxidants.
  • Eggs: It doesn’t matter whether you like boiled or scrambled or sunny side up, eggs are something that you have to add in your diet. Egg contains zinc acid and vitamin B that are essential for eye health. 
  • Almonds: This is an eye friendly food. It is rich in vitamins which help in preventing cataracts. Other foods in this category are kiwi, peanuts, mangoes, etc.
  • Grapes and Dark Berries: Grapes contain anthocyanins which is helpful for night vision. Some state that bilberry is potent in inhibiting and also reversing muscular degeneration, but it is yet to be proven clinically. Blueberries, dark grapes and blackberries also belong to this group.
  • Garlic and Onion: These may be a bit aromatic, but don’t put them aside. Garlic has sulfur that is good for eye lenses. They also boost resistance and increase blood circulation. Fresh garlic and onions are more effective.
  • Herbs: Turmeric, oregano, and parsley are useful for eyes and offer extra zinc and tantalizing fragrance in stews and pastas. You can easily get such foods from local health food store or grocery without harming your food budget. They not only improve eyesight, but also make you healthy.

So from orange to herbs, these are the various foods that boost eyesight that will not only affect your eyesight, but will also make you follow a healthy diet.
