Causes of Blurred Vision

There are many reasons for eye problems and visual disorders that involve blurred vision, blind spots, halos, floaters, and other symptoms. Blurred vision is the loss of vision sharpness and the inability to see small details and blind spots called scotomas, which are dark holes in the visual field in which nothing can be seen. Blurred vision is also defined as the blurring of images. It should be clearly distinguished from other symptoms of visual. There are many causes of blurred vision which you must know in order to take proper care for it.
You can know whether the blurred vision is unilateral or bilateral by knowing whether one eye is affected or both the eyes. You must also know whether this problem occurs continuously or occasionally. Blurred vision can be an unpleasant experience. Sometimes it can be a symptom of serious diseases and disorders. The common cause of blurred vision is muscle weakening that misshapes your eye lenses. When lenses lose their elasticity, blurred vision problem occurs. Loss of elasticity is expected with aging, but this process can be slowed down by antioxidants.
Causes of Blurred Vision
- Muscles get weakened pulling the lens into shape. It is the commonest cause of blurred vision.
- There is loss of elasticity of the lens. It is usually expected as you grow older; however, it can be slowed by taking antioxidants.
- Cataracts that also results in driving difficulty at night as headlights of oncoming vehicles dazzle.
- Macular degeneration is the loss of the light that detects neurones at the back of the eye. When such problem occurs, usually physicians suggest the patients for the correction of micronutrients, especially zinc, selenium, and magnesium that often restores sight.
- Another cause of blurred vision can be hyperopia. It is the opposite of myopia and take place when objects from a distance appear clearly, but objects that are close appears blurry. Such problem occurs when the eye is too short and images are focused beyond the eye's retina.
- Blurry vision should not be taken lightly. It is something that appears harmless like myopia or hyperopia, but can be treated by corrective glasses, laser eye surgery, lenses or it can be a symptom of something that is more serious. When you feel that blurry vision has occurred, then it is advisable for you to have an immediate eye check done by the doctor.
- If vision blurring problem occurs because of in taking certain medicines like antidepressant drugs, anti-hypertensive drugs, corticosteroid drugs, oral contraceptives, Parkinson’s disease medications, etc., then make sure that you stop such medications immediately.
If you are a diabetic patient, then controlling the sugar level in blood can prevent blurred vision prevented. Blurred vision can be treated by having proper diagnosis and using the right glasses. Vitamin A is considered good for eyes and can help to prevent the causes of blurred vision. Proper care should be taken of your eyes as they are the sensitive and one of the most important body parts.
