Once a person is a victim of color blindness, can color blindness be treated is a very common question that comes to mind. To find out the exact answer, let us first know what color blindness is.

Color blindness is a genetic form of disorder which is characterized by the inability to see specific colors. Color blind people are unable to see red, blue, green, or mixture of any of these colors. This disorder varies from person to person. There are very few color blind people who are completely unable to see any color. There are chances that color blindness may lead to vision loss or total blindness.
Causes of Color Blindness
Color blindness is caused due to absence or malfunction of color-sensitive cells in the retina. The retina converts light into nerve signals that are sent to the brain. This color blindness is sometimes inherited from parents.
Characteristics of Color Blindness
1. Color blindness from childhood usually does not lead to any vision loss or total blindness.
2. Color blindness is not the exchange of colors by the observer.

Treatment of Color Blindness
It is very sad that color blindness cannot be treated. But use of tinted eyeglasses may help colorblind people to identify colors.
There are techniques like warming one eye, injections of iodine or extracts of cobra venom, vitamins or flashing light and electrical stimulation which can help to improve the vision of color blinds.

We can conclude that although color blindness is non treatable today, in the near future it can lead to the advance technique which will cure the disorder from its roots.
