10 Causes of Fatigue

 Before knowing the 10 causes of fatigue, let us find out what is meant by fatigue. Medically, fatigue is known to be a problem among people. It is defined as a feeling of tiredness, weariness, or lack of energy. 

Fatigue is physical and sometimes is also associated with mental exhaustion that is resulted due to stress, overwork, medication, or mental and physical illness and disease.

In general, we can say that fatigue is lack of energy and /or motivation. Fatigue may result due to emotional stress, boredom, physical exertion, or lack of sleep. When fatigue is not cured by good nutrition, enough sleep, or a low-stress environment, one must consult a doctor to know the exact reason. It is very important to recognize the cause of fatigue, so as to treat it properly.

10 Causes of Fatigue

Insufficient Sleep

  • If one lacks quality sleep, it becomes hard for one to focus on work. Normally, adults should have 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep at night.
  • Always try to hear binaural music before sleep and make sleep your first priority. Ban all the disturbances that can lead to insufficient sleep. If one still has troubles, take help from a doctor.

Skipping Meals

  • Eating little of good foods will keep blood sugar levels low, but it will result in making one feel sluggish.
  • Don't skip breakfast and any meal. Always take complex carbs and proteins.
  • Avoid anything like artificial sweeteners like aspartame, so as to avoid fatigue.

Iron Deficiency

  • This is very commonly occurring cause of fatigue among women
  • Take sufficient amount of iron supplements and eat foods iron rich food like lean meat, beans, liver or shellfish to avoid fatigue.

Depression

  • When the mind and heart is not feeling well or low, the body follows it and fatigue can take place.
  • Depression contributes a lot to fatigue. This can be associated with headaches and loss of appetite.
  • Talk to a friends, or seek psychotherapy to avoid this cause of fatigue 

Hypothyroidism

  •  If the thyroid is under active causing hyperthyroidism, this can be a cause of fatigue.

Caffeine

  • As we all know, caffeine helps boost concentration, but its large doses can make one feel jittery contributing to fatigue. So try to lessen consumption of tea, soft drinks, coffee, or chocolate.

Dehydration

  • When the body gets dehydrated, it can cause fatigue
  • Drinking plenty of water is the only solution to avoid fatigue due to this

Heart Disease

  • Sometimes, heart disease is known to be a silent cause of fatigue
  • If one is having difficulty in breathing or experiences chest pains, seek medical help in that case.

UTI

  • Urinary Tract Infection can also cause fatigue
  • Sense of urgency to urinate along with burning pain may lead to feel fatigue
  • The best way to cure this is to take the prescribed antibiotics that can cure this infection and fatigue.

Diabetes

  • Too much sugar in blood can also cause fatigue
  • This can be avoided by following a good diet and taking medications, lifestyle changes, and insulin therapy.
