Fallopian tube cancer is also known as a tubal cancer, it develops in the fallopian tubes that connect the ovaries and the uterus. It is a disease, which affects the ducts that connect the ovaries to the uterus and allows the transport of eggs from the ovary to the uterus.

Hardly, two thousand cases are been reported worldwide, making it an extremely rare type of cancer. Other five major types of gynecological cancer which affects the woman reproductive organs are ovarian, uterine, cervical, vaginal and vulvar.

Fallopian tubes affects the women between the age of 50-60, also it can occur in any age. Women who have inherited the gene linked to the ovarian or the breast cancer called ‘BRCA1’ are at an increased risk of developing a fallopian tube cancer.

Symptoms of Fallopian Tube cancer

The symptoms of fallopian tube cancer are very vague, and make a typical condition, which are common for other gynecological cancer. In most of the cases, the symptoms relate to other less serious conditions and not the fallopian tube cancer. Following are the most common symptoms of fallopian tube cancer.

Vaginal discharge:- Vaginal discharge is the white - clear or tinged with pink liquid. It can be a symptom of the fallopian tube cancer. If you are experiencing this type of a vaginal discharge, you must consult your doctor to swab your vagina and to perform a microscopic examination of the sample. Depending on your last pap smear, your doctor may tell you the medication.

Pelvic pain:- Pelvic pain does not have any type of specific symptom. It can be related to something that is minor and to some thing, more sever like a cancer. Again, the fallopian cancer is very rare whereas pelvic pain is little bit more common. Hence a pelvic pain does not ensure that the one is suffering from fallopian tube cancer. Pelvic pain which is persistent and lasts for about two weeks definitely needs to be evaluated by your doctor. If you are experiencing pelvic pain, your doctor may want to know when it occurs, what may trigger it and what are you taking to relive from the pain.

Pelvic Mass:- A pelvic Mass is an important symptom, which is found during the pelvic exam. However, it is often related to benign conditions like ovarian cysts. If a pelvic mass is investigated while an exam, your doctor will want you to follow up with other test such as a CT scan or ultra sound.

Abnormal Vaginal bleeding:- Abnormal vaginal bleeding can occur with a fallopian tube cancer. Vaginal bleeding is considered abnormal when it occurs between the periods, after sex, of in case of heavy periods. Any type of vaginal bleeding in postmenopausal women is abnormal.

Post Menopausal women and fallopian tube cancer symptoms

Menopausal status can play a vital role in how symptoms are managed in the diagnosis process of fallopian tube cancer. Post menopausal women who experience abnormal vagina bleeding needs a timely evaluation. It is very important to consult your doctor to the post-menopausal women.

Fallopian tube cancer is most common among the older women, but do not stay in this wrong belief! Don’t let the statistics fool you, be attentive! The fallopian tube cancer can strike minority women as well as the younger and older than the 50-60 age brackets. Just it is less common among the younger one.
