While several women have been blessed with a dark skin tone, the insight of beauty standards has changed and evolved to accommodate all varieties of complexions and features. The cream complexion and peaches are no longer the decisive factor for judging beauty and manufacturers of top cosmetic products have realized the needs to provide to a wide section of makeup for men and women of different skin tones, including products of makeup for dark skin. Here are some make up tips for dark skin.

Dark colored women must choose shades and colors as per their skin tone while applying makeup. In medical terms, dark skin is better than fair skin. As dark skin has more pigment, it can survive the exposure to sunrays and their heat. Color of skin is less important than the health and feel of the skin. Irrespective of the color of the skin, facial features of an individual make him/her beautiful. Relating to makeup, if you have dark skin, you must know some fundamental guidelines, so that you can use makeup products according to your skin color. You must choose earthy and warm colors for dark complexion.

Blush Application for Dark Complexion

You need to choose shade of the blush very vigilantly, as blush on is a vital color constituent of makeup. You can go for deep orange, rose, and coral shades for dark complexion while you must avoid brown and peach shades. For a very dark skin tone, you can choose dark rose pink if it is day makeup and for night makeup, go for wine, plums and bronze. At night, add sparkle by touching up with gold tone as gold really goes well with dark skin. Apply gold at the outer corners of eyebrows and brow to get that look.

Lip Makeup for Dark Complexion

Avoid rime finish lipsticks and choose matte finish ones, as far as lip makeup for dark skin is concerned. You can choose shades of maroon, browns, berry shades and plums. Other colors which suit dark skin are shades of fawn, soft pink and gold. There are many lip colors like coffees, mochas, chocolates, dark plums, berry shade, wine shades, maroon, nude pinks and nude beiges that look great on dark complexion.

Some Important Make up Tips for Dark Skin

  • Provide even tone for foundation blending as dark skin is less prone to pimples and blemishes.
  •  As dark skin has propensity to shine and cream foundation will make it worse, applying liquid foundation would be a great idea.
  • The best possible way to combine foundation is by mixing distilled water in it and merging it in skin by rubbing, or else streaks of foundation would appear after sometime.
  • Applying less makeup would not be bad if you have a dark skin. You must focus on enhancing its inner glow and highlighting the natural color. Highlighting natural shades of skin would be much better than trying to blend different colors.

Don’t apply eyeliner and if you apply it, use it sparingly in a thin line along with the shape of your eye and never apply it on the lower lid as it will give an artificial look.
