How to Remove Paleness of Nails?

 The scientific name for pale nail is leuconychia. Appearance of pale nail is the indicator of a health problem. Patients with chronic liver disease often show signs of pale nail. The thumb nail and the index fingers nail become pale when there is a liver disease present. To find out how to remove paleness of nails, it is necessary to find out its actual causes. Here are some important causes of paleness of the nails.

1.       People suffering with lymphoma, fungal disease or renal disease are prone to pale nails.

2.       Type of diseases that reduce the oxygen content in blood, often causes the nails to turn from pink to white.

3.       Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism may result in pale and brittle nails.

4.       Poor nutrition is also a main cause of paleness. Most physicians advise to reduce carbohydrate intake and increase protein intake in the diet. It is possible that excess of sugar intake can aggravate nail infections.

5.       When you eat yogurt daily or take acidophilus capsules, there are increased chances of paleness of nails.

6.       Sometimes fungal infections can cause changes in the surface, color and shape of the nails. Types of bacteria such as psoriasis may cause splitting and paleness of the nail plate.

At present, there is no direct treatment available to treat pale nails. Some people choose to polish their nail with darker color to hide the paleness. In case of paleness of nails, it is important to consult your physician if you see changes in the color of your nails.

 Keep in mind that paleness of nails is proven to be a warning signs for many other conditions like hepatitis, heart disease, anemia, iron deficiency, Obsessive-compulsive disorder, etc. So to remove the paleness of the nails, you have to take treatment on the disease which results in this sign.

To improve appearance of nails and make them strong, there are some tips to share with you.

  1. Always keep nails clean and dry
  2. Stay away from nail-biting or picking
  3. Apply moisturizer to your nails every day.
  4. Use creams with urea, lactic acid, or phospholipids which can help to prevent cracking.
  5. Do not clean too deeply under your nails, this can lead to infection.
  6. Do not dig out ingrown toenails.
  7. Avoid nail polish removers containing acetone or formaldehyde.
  8. Bye your own instruments if you get frequent manicures rather than using one which is common for all.
  9. Take a balanced diet as well as vitamins containing biotin

Frequently, ask your doctor to check your nails during any checkup. Do not forget that nails are the only window from which you can know about the health of our bodies.
