How to do Pedicure at Home
- Remove Polish: Use a cotton ball dipped in polish remover solution to rub over each toenail. Remove all traces of polish from the nails.
- Groom Nails: Instead of nail files use emery board for filing your nails. The rougher side of emery board is used for shaping and shortening nails whereas the finer side is used for smoothening around the edges of the nails. Trim your nails to the desired length. Nowadays, longer toenails are in fashion.
- Soak Feet: Use hot water for soaking your feet. But remember, the temperature of water must be bearable. Hot water softens and soothes the foot skin in a better way. If you want you can add marbles to the foot basin to rub your feet. Add Epsom salt and essential oils for further relaxation. This improves rough patches of skin and soothes muscle pain.
- Treatment of Cuticle: Treatment of cuticle is done to avoid it coming in the way of the polish. Be careful while doing this or else you can hurt the skin around your nails. A cuticle pusher or a cuticle stick is recommended to push back the cuticles.
- Scrub: Use good quality nail brushes to scrub your nails. Soft to medium bristles can be used depending on the type of your skin.
- Exfoliation: Prepare your own foot scrubs from ingredients like baking soda, salt and milk. You can also use peppermint tea bag, Epsom salt and vitamin E oil to exfoliate your feet. This gives a spa-like experience at home.
- Moisturize: Use your favorite moisturizer to moisturize your feet. To get the ingredients absorbed in the feet, rub deeply. You can use grape seed oil, aloe, avocado, jojoba oil, or shea butter as a moisturizing agent. Apply either of these on rough and tough patches. Don’t forget to include your ankles and lower legs while massaging.
- Apply Nail Polish: Make your feet dry. Be sure that your nail plates are free from any moisturizer or oil residue. If your nails have any such type of residue, clean it with a polish remover soaked cotton ball. Use a foam operator to separate your toes. Start polishing your nails by applying a base coat. Wait until it gets dried up and then apply the second coat. Let it dry completely. Now apply the final coat of polish to make your nails look beautiful.
There is no need of an expensive trip to the salon, when pedicure can be done at home. With these how to do pedicure at home tips, you can save lots of money and time.
