“A woman without make up is like food without salt”, wrote Plautus, the Roman Dramatist regarding make up. Learning the art of make up has never been easy, but with proper knowledge & some useful tips you can easily master the technique & can achieve your own stunning look & can even do a makeover. Here you can find all the beauty & make up tips professional make up artists advice- what cosmetics have to be used & how they should be applied; how to accentuate your best features & minimize your trouble areas; how to give your face a velvety, natural finish & keep your make up lasting longer. It is an attempt to help beauty conscious to look good & feel confident about themselves.

You can get that much desired look by following few simple steps:-

  • Cleansing & toning:  It is a must that before applying make up, your skin should be free of any make up, oil or dust. Apply some cleansing milk on your forehead, cheeks, around eyes, chin, and nose. Then spread it with the help of your fingers & palm. Now wipe it off with a wet cotton wool. Do so in gentle upward motion strokes. Now freshen up your skin with a toner.
  • Moisturizing: Treat your skin with a good moisturizer suiting your skin type (oily/dry) & tone. Apply the moisturizer in the same manner as a cleanser. Make sure that your day time moisturizer contains SPF 15 or higher to protect your skin from sun’s harmful rays
  • Foundation selection & application: While buying a foundation just make sure that it suits your skin type & tone. Choose a color which is one shade lighter than your natural color. The foundation must fit like a second skin. Use a cosmetic sponge to apply foundation. Apply in dots & then blend them with the help of the sponge.
  • Concealer: To hide all the blemishes, spots & under eye dark circles use a concealer. Also use it near nose shadows. Simply apply it over the problem areas. A single coat is usually sufficient as overdoing it may accentuate it.
  • Blushers: A quick sweep of blush brings life to even a dull, drowsy face. Put the blush on the brush, then starting from cheekbone to the apple of the cheek towards hairline apply it in the form of an arc. Blend a little blush down the cheek to attain more natural look. Again you will have to be careful in selecting the color to get that rosy radiance. Use single sweeps over temples, forehead & chin too.
  • Eye Shadows: First apply a light shade over the entire eyelid from lash line to eyebrow bone. Now apply a medium shade on the lower lid. Make sure it blendes into your base color.  A third shade may also be applied to give depth to your eyes. A deep, dark shade is applied along the lash line & to the outer corners of the eye. Blend it well to give a dramatic look to your eyes.
  • Eye liners: Draw a thin line closest to your eyelashes with the help of the liner brush. Start from the inside corner of the eye & work your way out. One needs lots of patience & practice to apply the liner especially if using a liquid eye liner. Don’t close your eyes until the liner dries otherwise it may smudge.
  • Mascara: Mascara gives curls & adds volume to the lashes. While applying mascara, begin with the underside of your upper eyelashes & then move the brush in the upward direction towards the tips of your lashes. While applying on the lower lashes you need to be bit careful as there are more chances of smudging. Wait for a minute & then apply a second coat to give a more alluring look to your eyes.
  • Lipstick:  Using a lip liner before applying lipstick not only defines but also accentuates the shape of your lips. Start by outlining the Cupid’s bow on the upper lip & then define the lower lip. Then using a lip brush fill in with lip color of your choice. If you want your lipstick to stay longer, blot over the surface with a tissue & then reapply it. You can also use lip gloss to add that extra sheen to your lips.
  • Touch-up: After completing the whole process, inspect your self in bright/day light. If you have missed something, like cheek colors & shimmers, apply them now & if you’ve overdone somewhere, tone it down to create the right effect.

This was a step by step process by which you can apply the make up & create an alluring look.
