It has been observed that Methadone is able to suppress heroin withdrawal symptoms for around 24 to 36 hours.  With the usage of methadone the yearning for heroin is reduced and highs and lows in the brain are controlled. Though methadone treatment can be used for a long duration, it is known to be most effective to aid slow withdrawal from heroin dependence.

Methadone has to be prescribed by the Doctor. The medication dose has to be taken as prescribed by the physician.
