Alcohol addiction recovery is not an easy process. It is quite tedious and time consuming in nature. Alcohol is a substance which is easily available and that is also known to be one of the reasons why people take to alcohol. Alcohol has an intoxicating effect on the mind and the entire body. An alcohol addict can adopt ways which are suitable as individual and personal approaches.

Some useful tips for alcohol addiction recovery are as follows:

Change your acquaintances and friends: Friends and acquaintances are known to be the root cause for addictive problems. Friends are known to influence your thought process and taking to substances which are harmful in nature. If you feel that your friends have a bad effect on your lifestyle choices, you must change your friend circle. Choose friends who would have a positive effect and who adopt healthy lifestyle options.

Change your atmosphere or ambience: Sometimes or even most of the times even the atmosphere or ambience in which we spend quality time in also effect what we indulge in. Places like pubs and nightclubs, are places one should avoid visiting. Instead of pubs one could opt for restaurants which don’t serve alcohol.

Refrain from boredom: During the recovery process you must work hard to occupy your free time. One should always refrain from boredom, since boredom can be a hazardous antagonist to your entire recovery process. Substance abuse such as alcohol and drugs are directly linked to boredom or when you were not mentally occupied.  One could take up new hobbies or activities which you always wanted to take up and never could.

Exercise regularly: Exercise is a guaranteed way of bringing about a feel good factor in the mind. When one is depressed or stressed one is more likely to take to drugs or alcohol. Exercise is the best way to take the mind off depressive thoughts. With regular exercise one can be healthy as well as active. You can improve your stamina and remove depression by simple exercises such as walking or jogging.

Incorporate a healthy diet: Ensure you eat a balanced and a healthy diet. A healthy diet comprising of green leafy vegetables, fruits and fresh fruit juices will make you feel content and happy. Avoid junk food and fast food restaurants. Refrain from food items which contain high amount of sodium. Items such as eating candy, desert and drinking soda should be avoided.

Renew relationships: Alcoholics and drug addicts are often left alone. People generally avoid associating themselves with alcoholics. Try and renew your lost relationships with friends and family. During your recovery process, you can be assured of family support and guidance.

Have faith: Have faith in God. When you have strong belief in God, you know at the back of your mind you have support at all times. Faith brings along with peace, tranquillity and serenity in the mind.

One should always remember during the alcohol addiction recovery process, there would be depressing thoughts plaguing your mind to drink alcohol. You should work towards avoiding those thoughts on all the occasions.
