Alcohol addiction is categorised as a regular need and want for any sort of intoxicating liquid. Alcohol is obtained from fermented fruit or grain. An individual soon becomes an alcoholic with regular intake of alcohol. The addict does not realize that even small quantities can lead to severe addiction. For an alcoholic it is most advisable to get enrolled in a rehab center at the earliest.

Alcohol is available in many forms such as wine, hard liquor and beer. Beer and wine as compared to hard liquor are much milder in nature.

  1. As an individual takes in alcohol, it is directly absorbed by the stomach and the bloodstream and finds a way to all the tissues.
  2. When alcohol is consumed, its effectiveness depends on various factors such as body weight, size, gender, age and strength. The effectiveness also depends on the amount of food and alcohol consumed.
  3. Alcohol is physically as well as mentally destructive in nature. Some health issues which are caused due to alcohol consumption are: cancer, heart disease, diseases of the liver and brain damage. Alcoholism has shown to shorten life expectancy in an addict by around 15 years.
  4. Dizziness, comfortableness and talkativeness are the result of moderate alcohol consumption. Disturbed sleep, nausea, vomiting and slurred speech is caused due to massive alcohol consumption.
  5. Alcohol is considered to be a major killer around; alcohol intake also leads to disastrous road accidents and sudden deaths. Alcohol intake also is the main cause of Murders, crimes, suicides and premature deaths.

Alcohol rehab advice and information:

  1. Rehab centers provide a comfortable and residential atmosphere for the addicts. The addicts would not feel that they have come for treatment. At the centers the addicts are made to stay in accommodation which is located near or in the rehab center.
  2. It is most beneficial and advisable to get enrolled in an alcohol rehab center, since the need and requirement for alcohol is always on a rise in an alcohol addict.
  3. You would require a rehab center, if you feel uncomfortable, unfit and unorganised without the presence of alcohol in your system.
  4. Rehabilitation centers provide addiction counselling to aid drinkers overcome illness. The preliminary phase of alcohol treatment is intensive in nature with 7 days a week program. During this period the addict goes through complementary therapies such as drama, music, art and various other social activities.
  5. At the center addicts are taught to interact with other people without the call for alcohol.
  6. When alcohol is removed from an addicts system, he/she tends to fall prey to other addictions which is categorised as cross-addiction. Alcoholics are known to cross addict to substances such as: nicotine, food, sugar, caffeine and strong prescription drugs. Alcohol rehab centers also work towards the monitoring of cross addiction. 

While getting enrolled in an alcohol rehabilitation center, you must always remember that you would also have to help yourself along with great deal of grit and determination. You must be positive that you can leave alcohol behind and start afresh without alcohol.
