Acne is the most common skin problem faced by 90% of the people sometime or the other. Between the ages of 15-25, acne or pimple breakouts are the ugliest!

While tackling the issue of acne, we often find young people despairing about new pimples. How to prevent acne?

  • Firstly, new acne outbreaks can be prevented by keeping our skin clean and oil-free. To achieve this, it is advisable to wash the face twice daily. Excessive washing of the face should be avoided to prevent drying of the face. Drying would in turn prompt our skin to produce more oil.
  • One should avoid hair falling on the face to prevent acne outbreaks. Keep your hair tied away from the face.
  • One should keep one’s body naturally hydrated. Meaning, consumption of plenty of fruits and vegetables and intake of at least 2 liters of water ensure that the body is regularly flushed. It helps in keeping the toxins out of the system and prevents pimples.

How to avoid getting acne?

  • Acne or pimples can be best avoided by using skin creams which are known to prevent acne. They are also seen effective in curing acne and healing the blemishes.
  • Some popular over-the-counter medicines can be tried which contain benzoyl peroxides or salicylic acids on the acne-prone skin areas. This helps in new outbreak of pimples.
  • One must avoid using heavy moisturizers and make-up products which are known to cause pore blocking.
  • Using fresh, clean pillow covers and clean hand towels are known to prevent outbreak of pimples.

Home remedies to prevent acne:

  • Lemon juice is found to be very effective in preventing new outbreaks of pimples. Mix lemon juice with rose water and apply on the face for 15 minutes. Wash it off with cold water. This is known to even control whiteheads and blackheads.
  • Juice from crushed garlic cloves can be applied on the pimple-prone areas and washed off after 10 minutes. This is also known to prevent acne.
  • It is best not to squeeze or pop the pimples. Popping pimples only spreads the infection onto other parts of the face and this further can cause more pimples and associated scarring. Avoiding popping of pimples is the wisest thing to do.
