Acne is the most common skin problem that affects more than 90% people in the world especially in the age-groups of 15-25 years. Acne or pimples mostly affect the face, chest and back. Chest acne needs to be tackled differently than facial acne. It affects more than 54% of women and 40% men. Mostly women in their twenties are found to be effected by chest acne and it causes severe embarrassment among them because of associated scarring.
Pimples on chest
Acne and pimples on the chest can be extremely irritating and can cause a person to suffer from discomfort. Chest acne tends to get severe if they are popped or rubbed against the clothing that one wears. Chest acne is a result of clogged pores due to overproduction of sebaceous glands. Hormonal imbalances activate the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum
Cystic acne
Sometimes chest acne takes a severe form. The acne develops into large pustules on the skin with pus-filled tips. These cystic acne are extremely painful and disfiguring. Such cystic acne leaves marks on the chest as well. In such cases, it is advisable to visit a dermatologist as normal application of pimple creams are rendered ineffective.
How to treat chest acne?
- The first and foremost way of treating chest acne is to take baths using acne body washes. These body washes contain medicated stuff which not only dry up the acne but also disinfect the acne-prone area.
- After a bath, it is advisable to pat the chest dry and then apply over-the-counter creams which contain salicylic acids and benzoyl peroxides on the chest pimples.
- Loose fitting clothes can be used to prevent inflammation of the pimples and spreading the acne.
- Other popular acne creams can be applied on the chest acne to treat them and get rid of the scars as well.
- Avoid squeezing chest acne especially if it is the cystic acne unless you want to spread the infection and want scars left behind.
Natural remedies of chest acne
- Put a handful of neem leaves in the bucket of water which one uses for taking bath. This water becomes medicated due to these leaves and effectively controls chest acne.
