Acne home treatment

 Acne is the most common skin problem that affects a wide range of people of the ages 15-25 years especially. It is also a myth that acne affects only the teenagers. More and more people, who are getting adult acne, are seeking doctor’s advice regarding acne treatment. Acne home treatment is also something many people crave for, because people are surer of what they are applying and popping from their kitchen shelves than what is available in markets.

Acne home-made remedies

  • In order to be acne free, it is advisable to keep oneself hydrated by drinking plenty of water. By this method, one would be throwing the toxins out of the system and hence, keeping the system clean.
  • The diet must be rich in vitamins and minerals especially, zinc. It has been found that a rich zinc diet helps in controlling and even treating acne.
  • One should excessive washing of face as that would only leave the skin dehydrated and trigger excess production of sebum on the skin.
  • After washing the face with water, apply a mixture of lemon juice, honey, rose water and glycerin on the face and all other acne prone areas. Take all of them in equal portions and prepare this mixture. You may keep it tightly sealed in a refrigerator. Wash off the face after 30 minutes. Lemon juice and honey have antibacterial properties and can thus, teat pimples effectively. Glycerin helps in moisturizing the skin and prevents excess drying.
  • Another effective home-made remedy to treat acne is to mix cinnamon powder with a spoon of lemon juice and apply on the pimples where they have broken out. Leave this mixture overnight and wash it away in the morning. This helps in drying out the acne.
  • Blend ripe pieces of papaya, pineapple and banana. Add a spoon of honey and squeeze lemon juice to it. Now take a little amount of the mixture and massage your face slowly with it. Work gently on the oiliest parts of the face, like: chin, nose and forehead. After massaging for 10 minute, leave the mixture on your face for 30 minutes and splash with cold water. This would lessen the oiliness on the face and also give a healthy glow on the skin. This can be done thrice in a week.
  • Face packs and mud packs are also effective pimple home treatments. Mix a spoon of lemon juice and rose water to fuller’s earth and make a paste. Apply this as a face pack and leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash you face with cold water.
  • Mud packs which contain tea-tree oils can also be used to treat acne. Tea-tree oil contains certain ingredients which are found in most of the popular pimple creams.
  • Steaming the face is also an effective way of opening up the skin pores. It is advisable to steam the face for 5 minutes and pat the face dry. Now apply a good face pack which preferably has exfoliators also. You can make your own face pack also: Take a teaspoon of chickpea flour, half a spoon of oatmeal powder and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix all of them together to make a paste. You may also add little amount of honey. Apply on the face and let the face pack dry for 30 minutes. This would remove the dead cells and also absorb the excess oil.
  • Do not squeeze or pick out acne. That may only cause scarring on the skin and even spread infection.
